There are three main ways in which you can get involved:

  1. ‘Adopt’ a child, make up a ‘box of joy’ and drop it off. We’ll do the rest!
  2. Donate your time.
  3. Donate your money.

Becoming a sponsor

If you would like to sponsor a child, please visit our registration page on 1 September 2011 and complete the registration form. Once you have selected the child/ren you would like to sponsor, we’ll supply you with a label for your shoebox and a check list. These need to be stuck to the top of the box before you drop it off.

Donating your time

Shoebox is manned completely by volunteers. Most of us have full time jobs and juggle these alongside our family commitments. We are always on the lookout for people who would like to get involved in the sorting and distribution of the boxes as well as in handling the logistics for our Christmas tree events. If you are keen to 'get your hands dirty and meet some truly wonderful people in the process, please email us.

Donating your money

We know that with the frenetic pace of life today, it's not always possible to get involved. You can still make a difference by donating some of your hard earned moolah to the Shoebox cause.

How will this money be used?

You can decide how we spend your money.

If you want to spoil a child, we will go shopping on your behalf, make up the box, label it and add it to the boxes to be distributed. We would advise a sum of R200 per box. We are also very happy to take partial donations, as these will be pooled together to make up as many boxes as possible.

Alternatively, you can also donate money towards the costs of hosting the Christmas tree events. In all instances the money you donate will be acknowledged in writing. The costs involved here include transporting the kids to the venue, the venue hire, catering, refreshments, entertainment (think jumping castles, face-painters and clowns), and if sufficient funding allows, thank you gifts for the carers at the charity to which the children belong.
